So far there have not been many changes. We have not seen his eyes for a day or so. His breathing is more raspy. They are giving him medications to dry up the secretions in his throat to lessen the gurgle. He is resting peacefully at this moment. Mom, Jenn and I are all going to stay tonight. We are really trying to spend our time left as a family. Please pray for mercy on us all as he makes this very precious transition.
We would like to ask people to start writing memories of Dad and emailing them to us. If you would send them to all three addresses we would all love to read them Eventually we would like to compile them into one book. Have fun thinking of him and we'll take all stories, even the R rated ones.:)

ReplyDeleteAs you sit with Dave, remind him that so very, very many people are holding him and you all in their hearts and prayers. Folks smile when they mention Dave's name because one of the things he's always done is to make people feel good or better. He's one person who truly exudes and spreads joy -- that grin, that chuckle, that roar of laughter. He's helped people understand the importance of fun, caring, and love of life and others.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder he ended up with such a fabulous family. Know that this love of life is something that will be remembered by all. You can tell him that our care for him extends to his family, now and in the future.
This is such an unusual time when the moments last forever and not long enough. Please know that we care and that you are not alone.

ReplyDeleteHello Schey family - I just found your blog tonight via Google-search and learned the extent of Dave's illness. (I had only heard recently from a fellow classmate of Jenn & mine that he just had Cancer, but no other details beyond that.) I'm sorry for your suffering, and will absolutely pray that you receive both strength and peace as you go through this process... I will try to put together some of my memories of Dave and E-mail them to you sometime in the next week. They're 99% golf related since I mostly knew Dave from when worked at Fox Hill CC growing up and played against him in a few tournaments.
