Let's start at the very beginning...

Hello to all!! This is just a small start to what we hope will be a place for us to post updates on the road to recovery. Dad has been in the hospital since Friday January 9th. He came in because he was experiencing pains in his left side. When the scans were done they found a blood clot (pulmonary embolism) in his lower left lobe of the pulmonary artery. Upon further review they found some spots in his liver. At this point the doctors diagnosis is that there is small cell type cancer that is located in the liver. We will hopefully have more information tomorrow morning when we meet with the Oncologist. The first step is to get him out of the hospital and begin outpatient tests to determine more about the cancer. It is most likely going to be a long road but we have faith that we will conquer this disease with the Lord at our sides the entire way. We appreciate all prayers and thoughts of well wishes!! Thank you all for riding along with us!!

  7. So sorry to hear that all of this has happened. A pulmonary embolism? Yuck! Why is it that going to the hospital is like going to the mechanic (you go for one thing, they find another). Ben's dad has cancer in his kidney, which they found while doing unrelated testing. A blessing in both cases, I guess, to catch it sooner rather than later.

Like you said--we're riding along with you on the "road to recovery." In the past year, I have witnessed so many medical miracles--this will be just another one to add to the list.

Thinking about/praying for your family, especially your dad. (I still chuckle when I watch Dumb and Dumber and see his cameo.)

    Love,
    Marlena, Ben & Lucy

  8. Candie & family,
I'm sending prayers and thinking of you. Eric had blood clots last summer & spent some time in the hospital, then at home in tights, and is still on coumadin but back to his old self.

It is a blessing they found the cancer cells, but I'm sad to hear that...

Sending you hugs. Kim A. - GWITS

  15. Par for this hole

A couple was on their honeymoon, lying in bed, about ready to consummate
their marriage, when the new bride says to the husband, "I have a confession
to make, I'm not a virgin."

The husband replies, "That's no big thing in this day and age."

The wife continues, "Yeah, I've been with one other guy."

"Oh yeah? Who was the guy?"

    "Tiger Woods."

    "Tiger Woods the golfer?"

    "Yeah."

"Well he's rich, famous and handsome. I can see why you went to bed with him."

The husband and wife then make passionate love. When they get done, the
husband gets up and walks to the telephone.

"What are you doing?" says the wife.
The husband says, "I'm hungry. I was going to call room service and get some
    food."

    "Tiger wouldn't do that."

"Oh yeah? What would Tiger do?"

"He'd come back to bed and do it a second time."

The husband puts down the phone and goes back to bed to make love with his
wife a second time. When they finish, he gets up and goes over to the phone.

"What are you doing?" she says.

The husband says, "I'm still hungry so I was going to get room service to get
    some food."

    "Tiger wouldn't do that."

"Oh yeah? What would Tiger do?"

"He'd come back to bed and do it one more time."

The guy slams down the phone and goes back to bed and makes love to his wife
one more time. When they finish he's tired and beat. He drags himself over to
the phone and starts to dial.

The wife asks, "Are you calling room service?"

"No! I'm calling Tiger Woods to find out what's par for this hole!"

    We love you Dave!
